Le Potazzine är minst sagt en familjeangelägenhet. Gigliola Nanetti driver idag domänen – som hon grundade 1993 – tillsammans med sina döttrar Viola och Sofia. På svenska betyder gårdens namn ”talgoxarna”, smeknamnet som flickornas mormor brukade kalla sina kvittrande barnbarn när de var små. Och givetvis är det talgoxar som pryder etiketterna.
Gården omfattar fem hektar vingårdar i några av de högsta delarna inom appellationen Brunello di Montalcino. Drygt tre hektar ligger invid gården på över 500 meters höjd strax söder om själva byn Montalcino, och knappt två lite längre söderut, i närheten av byn Sant’Angelo in Colle där höjderna når drygt 400 meter. Jordbruket sköts sedan starten med ekologiska metoder, numera certifierade, samt vissa biodynamiska inslag.
I källaren råder en självklar filosofi som kan sammanfattas i spontana jäsningar, långa macerationstider och lagring i medelstora ekliggare, helt enligt den lokala traditionen. Gigliola har från första början strävat efter en elegant och harmonisk stil, och hennes viner bär syn för sägen. Det här är utan tvekan en av de härligaste producenterna i Montalcino.
Sangiovese di Toscana IGT 2021
Sangiovese från unga rankor i de egna vinmarkerna. Vinet jäste spontant i tank, med 50 dygns maceration utan temperaturkontroll. Efter pressning vilade vinet ett år i ståltank. Buteljeringen gjordes utan klarning eller filtrering. Alkohol: 13,5 %.
"The beginning of the year was marked by a rainy but mild winter, which led to an early budding. Subsequently, an exceptional and unexpected drop in temperatures around mid-April gave rise to some freezing nights. Fortunately our vineyards were not affected, thanks to the constant ventilation typical of our altitudes, which keeps the plants dry and a less extreme temperature. The following summer was very dry, but the opportune mid-August rains, together the perfect climatic conditions in September allowed the grapes to reach perfect phenolic ripeness."
"The grape variety is very easy to detect starting from the nose, which is truly classic for Sangiovese: red cherry, plum, spices and Mediterranean scrub. This 2021 edition presents a tannic structure as dense as it is gentle, which alongside acidity, does not sacrifice, on the contrary it supports drinkability."
Rosso di Montalcino 2021
Sangiovese, planterade planterade 1993-1996 med knappt 6000 rankor/hektar i lägena Le Prata (centrala Montalcino) samt La Torre (Sant'Angelo in Colle). De avstjälkade druvorna jäste spontant med 40 dygns maceration i ekståndare och ståltank. Efter pressning vilade vinet tolv månader i större liggare av slavonsk ek (Garbelotto, 30-50 hl). Buteljerat utan klarning eller filtrering.

Then, an unexpected drop in temperatures around mid-April resulted in a couple of freezing nights: despite that, the frost didn’t affect our vines thanks to the constant breeze typical of our altitudes, which keep the vines dry and a gentler temperature. The summer that followed was very dry, but some proper showers at the right time and perfect climatic conditions during the month of September allowed the grapes to reach an excellent phenolic ripeness."

Brunello di Montalcino 2018
Sangiovese, planterade planterade 1993-1996 med knappt 6000 rankor/hektar i lägena Le Prata (centrala Montalcino) samt La Torre (Sant'Angelo in Colle). De avstjälkade druvorna jäste spontant med 42 dygns maceration i ekståndare och ståltank. Efter pressning vilade vinet 42 månader i större liggare av slavonsk ek (Garbelotto, 30-50 hl). Buteljerat utan klarning eller filtrering. Total produktion: ca 18 000 flaskor.
"The 2018 started with a fairly regular winter, not very cold but even mild as is happening in the last years. We got some snow and regular rains during the springtime, but what really characterized the 2018 was the rainy days in August. Almost every afternoon was rainy, this meant leaf-removal during the month, that together with the wind typical of our high-altitude location, allowed the bunches to remain very healthy. Then a beautiful September, marked by good thermal excursions, leading to a perfect ripeness of the bunches."
"The nose is already a perfect equilibrium between fruity and floral scents, with the dark berries combining with gardenia and violet. In the mouth is very juicy and savory, well-defined by spicy notes and red cherry aromas. Beautiful right now, but able to be cellared for two decades."
